About me

Eat Nourish Thrive Jo Barrett
Jo Barrett BSc
Hi, I'm Jo

Having spent nearly 20-years in the pharmaceutical industry, and being conventionally trained, I was exposed to the world of holistic medicine during the two years that I lived in South Africa.

I previously suffered from a prolapsed disc in my back, which caused persistent and debilitating stiffness, so I decided to visit a body stress practitioner to see if they could help me. This opened my eyes to the world of treating the body as a whole and the body’s innate ability to heal itself, if given the right conditions. It started an enduring passion for taking responsibility for my own health, learning to treat conditions through diet and lifestyle and it ultimately led to educating myself to make better choices for my health.

I decided to retrain in naturopathic nutrition, at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, and qualified as a BANT-registered nutritional therapist/nutritionist. I now run a private practice: seeing clients one-to-one, helping them discover the root cause of their symptoms and providing a bespoke nutrition and lifestyle plan to restore the natural balance of the body. I'm the preferred provider for Dr Now in Beaconsfield and see clients referred to me from there.

I understand it can be overwhelming to be presented with massive changes but my passion lies in setting people achievable goals, ultimately enabling them to build better habits.

My mission is to empower people with knowledge and my fundamental principle is it’s about better choices not perfection!

Testimonials

"I sought the help of Jo following a ten year battle with my weight, fatigue and just generally feeling rubbish. Her simple approach to tackling my specific issues has meant I’ve been able to make healthy changes which have now become ingrained in my daily habit stack. Having worked with professionals in the past, who have made me feel shame and guilt towards my weight, Jo has been a breath of fresh air. Providing me positive reassurance and support along my journey and tailoring her guidance to suit my individual needs. I cannot recommend her enough and I just wish I’d found her sooner - thank you!"
Verity

I’m a woman in my mid sixties who has been dieting for the last forty years with varying degrees of success. Recently though I was unable to lose any weight and being overweight, especially around my middle, was making me quite stressed. I had reduced my eating to under 1000 calories per day, so was feeling tired and demoralised. I realised that dieting was no longer working and I needed help to change direction. I found Jo to be organised, knowledgeable and keen to understand my problems. Sessions were relaxed, well prepared, and very helpful. As a result of an agreed programme, I've identified a much better balance with what I’m eating. Eating food is no longer stressful but has become enjoyable. I’ve started to lose weight and have more energy! I would highly recommend Jo to anyone who is stuck in the same dieting spiral.
Carolyn

"Jo is professional and thorough and quickly got to the root cause of my health issue after putting me at ease and some gently probing questioning. With her insight and recommendations, I have managed to resolve the problem and not experienced any relapse. I'm feeling so much better! Thank you Jo!"
Karen

"Jo has really helped me tackle some long-standing digestive issues, as well as getting to the root of several mysterious symptoms that I also had going on. She is compassionate and personable, and explains things really well - I felt that she genuinely cared about improving my health. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone needing nutritional guidance."
Sarah

"For anyone wanting to make simple, positive steps towards taking control of their own health destiny, I recommend Jo completely. She has a wealth of knowledge and has a sincere passion for helping people improve their lives through nutrition. She doesn’t overwhelm with medical information, instead she listens, respects and recommends a programme tailored to your specific needs. Sometimes small, simple changes, made daily, have the biggest impact, and after 'tweaking’ my diet, I’ve already noticed a huge improvement in my health and vitality. Eat Nourish Thrive is a part of my self care and I will continue to use her services to live my best life."
Kathy

"Jo helped me, over a few months, whilst I was dealing with muscle pain, nerve pain and migraines related to perimenopause and fibromyalgia symptoms. Although I had some previous knowledge, she was very thorough in her notes and care to support me. I learnt a lot about my gut and the benefits of prebiotics which I didn’t know, also supporting me with some other digestive issues. I really appreciated her care, support and positivity."
Sarah

"I visited Jo because I'd been suffering from chronic silent reflux. Jo listened and provided me with effective treatment, and I am now completely pain and reflux-free. I would highly recommend Jo."
